Mechanical engineers should engage in the application of knowledge or creation of inventions that advance the progress of civilization although such course improperly directed may result in self-harm or destruction.
Despite the less than spectacular salary of an engineer, happiness in the work place is much more important and students must realize this so they don't pass engineering by just because of the paycheck.
Explosives engineers have been known as "the constructors of death" by some people because they are the makers of military weaponry, however a large portion of explosives engineers work on explosives project where death is not seen, such as the field of mining.
Mechanical engineers must strive to design products which will be able to run on alternative energy sources, which will decrease the dependency on oil.
In spite of religious protest, advances in biomedical engineering benefit everyone because the advances have helped to save and extend life to people in need.
America should stop outsourcing to or looking to hire foreign engineers over local american engineers.

Aeronautical engineers must continue to develop new war planes despite the liklyhood that they will be used to kill people.
The practice of sending E-waste to third world countries is becoming more and more common. While some find this to be morally apprehensive, sending E-waste must be done it ensure the economic welfare of the people this E-waste is sent to.
With the current downturn in the U.S. economy, an engineer might wonder what the future holds for the field.
People must realize that executives and other upper management groups in engineering companies are indirectly responsible for "engineering" disasters, they pass down a budget that encourages cutting corners which lead to the failure of a project.
Due to Mechanical Engineering advancements concerning nanotechnology, global warming can now be better understood and effectively eradicated making the planet a more suitable place to live for all society.
It is imperative that alternate energy forms are developed and used because of the environmental impact and expense of oil.
